June 18th, 2020 Council Meeting Highlights

Council discussed the following issues at their June 18th regular meeting:

RECREATION FUNDING COMMITTEE – PHASE I ALLOCATION RECOMMENDATION

Council approved the Recreation Funding Committee’s recommendation that the total amount of $109,627 provided by Flagstaff County be allocated to the recreation centre for roof repairs.

ARENA – MECHANICAL ASSESSMENT

Council approved a budget of $9100 to have a mechanical assessment performed on the arena with the main focus being a solution to the ventilation issue.

MUNICIPAL PLANNING COMMISSION – DEVELOPMENT PERMIT APPLICATION 20-08

Council, in their role as the Municipal Planning Commission, approved Development Permit 2020-08 allowing for the variance of a fence six-feet in height in the front yard adjacent to 50th Avenue, at 5001 49th Street. The fence is to be no further than 16 feet from the south exterior wall of the dwelling

CANADA DAY PARADE – ROAD CLOSURE

Council approved that the 4800 block of Main Street is to be closed to traffic on July 1ST between the hours of 10am and 12pm due to the Canada Day parade route.

JULY REGULAR MEETING – RESCHEDULE

Council rescheduled the July regular meeting to July 29th at 6pm.  The meeting will be held in the Community Hall at 4809 47th Street.

RECREATION BOARD – BUSINESS PROPOSAL

Council directed Administration to research a proposal presented by the Recreation Board and examine the feasibility of entering into a snow removal and grass cutting services agreement with the Board.
