October 20, 2018 Council Meeting Highlights

Council discussed the following issues at their October 18, 2018 Organizational & Regular Council Meetings:

 Council Organizational Meeting Highlights

Deputy Mayor

Council endorsed the appointment of Councillor Stephen Levy as Deputy Mayor effective immediately.

Council Meeting Dates

Council approved the continuance of Regular Council Meetings being held on the third Thursday of the month commencing at 6:00 PM.

Council Regular Meeting Highlights

Flagstaff SDAB & IARB Appointment

Council approved the appointment of Sylvia Wold to the Flagstaff Regional Subdivision & Development Appeal Board and to the Intermunicipal Assessment Review board, each for a three-year term expiring in October 2021.

Parkland Regional Library 2019 Budget

Council approved the 2019 Parkland Regional Library Requisition at $8.25 per capita; a $0.13 per capita increase over the 2018 budget.

Recreation Funding Committee – Phase II Funding Recommendations

Council approved the Recreation Funding Committee’s 2018 Phase II grant recommendations:

  • $5,000 to Sedgewick Minor Ball
  • $5,000 to Sedgewick Golf Club
  • $1,417.90 to Sedgewick Community Hall Association

2018 Capital Budget – MSI Allocation

Council approved an application under the Municipal Sustainability Initiative Capital Grant Program for the Water Treatment Plant SCADA and HVAC Projects for a total grant application of $210,000.

Subdivision Authority

Council passed Subdivision Authority Bylaw 546; see full text of the Bylaw on www.Sedgewick.ca

Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation (48th & 50 Street)

Council approved the rehabilitation of 625 metres of clay sanitary sewer on 48th & 50 Streets with a budgeted cost of $1.25 Million.
